About the Department

Department of Veterinary Gynaecology and Obstetrics is located at Veterinary Clinical Complex of KCVAS at Village Mahal, Amritsar. The Department provide services in the following area:

• Imparting education to undergraduate students in the field of Gynaecology, Obstetrics and Andrology as per the prescribed curriculum of the Veterinary Council of India (MSVE 2016).
• Associated with the regular Internship training programme of B.V.Sc & A.H
• Provide hands-on training to undergraduate students for handling the gynaecological cases being brought to the Veterinary Clinical Complex for treatment.
• Promote Breed Improvement Programme of Government of Punjab through Artificial Insemination Techniques
• Participate and promote in Animal Breeding Control Programme in collaboration with various NGOs.

Facilities Available

The Department fully equipped to handle gynaecological and Obstetrics cases required as per the MSVE 2018 guidelines for undergraduate teaching. The Department offers its service in various fields:

• Dystokia cases of large animals through various manipulated manoeuvres or fetotomy
• Provide well-equipped Small and Large Animal Operation Theatres for assisted reproduction (Caesarian section) and controlled reproduction programme for both small and large animal.
• Ultrasonography and radiodiagnostic facilities for small animal reproduction assessment.
• Maintain facility for semen evaluation and vaginal cytology for estrus evaluation in canines.
