VETERINARY MICROBIOLOGY

About the Department

The department has been established in the College to provide training to undergraduate students in the broad field of veterinary microbiology as per VCI norms. It provides knowledge in Veterinary Bacteriology, Mycology, Immunology & Serology, and Virology. It also provides diagnostic services. The three Laboratories of Bacteriology and Mycology, Virology and Immunology/serology of this department is well-equipped with all modern equipment & chemicals with highly trained and motivated staff.

Facilities Available

The department is well-equipped with all the basic and advanced facilities as per MSVE 2016 guidelines for undergraduate teaching and diagnostic services such as -

  • Isolation of pathogenic agents from clinical samples
  • Identification of bacteria/fungi from pure isolates
  • Antibiotic/Antifungal Sensitivity screening of bacteria and fungi
  • Serological test for screening of bacterial pathogens - Brucella, TB, Johnin (as per availability of the antigen)
  • Trichogram/fungal screening test
