VETERINARY PUBLIC HEALTH & EPIDEMIOLOGY

About the Department:

Under Graduate teaching as per the course curriculum prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India (MSVE-2016) for Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology is undertaken. The departmental activities are mainly focused at teaching students about:

• Strategies for ensuring food safety and food quality control for production of hygienic milk, meat, and their products.
• Zoonotic diseases, their epidemiology, prevention, and control.
• Environmental pollutants and their impact on human and animal health

 

Facilities Available

Facilities are available as per MSVE 2018 guidelines for undergraduate teaching. The Veterinary Public Health and Epidemiology (VPE) department provides water/milk testing facilities and diagnostic services to Veterinary Clinical Complex (VCC) and also works in close association with Govt. Medical College, Amritsar.

The Department is well-equipped with

1. Milk Meat Hygiene Laboratory.
2. Meat Hygiene Laboratory.
3. Zoonoses-cum-Epidemiology Laboratory

• Education of farmers about zoonotic diseases during Kisan Mela and Animal Health Camps
